STRONG WINDS TODAY.....

Spring seems far, still it's very COLD. Especially, nights are freezing and winds are all we have got these days. The weather is truly strange.

Wind is blowing so hard right now that  it seems as if the windows will break and the roof will be blown away...

Updated on 10th. April: Slush i.e a combination of rain and snow was what I witnessed yesterday during lunch time...sucks!

Halal Choices for Lunch in Dongdaemun at Exit 5!

 콩나물밥or Bean Sprouts with rice

Kimbab: Ask for salad, Yanche(vegetable) or Tuna Kimbab

냉면 or Cold noodles made with buckwheat and the dish has spring onions, cucumber, hot chillie paste and ice cubes (not my favourite)!

멸치우동 or Anchovies and seaweed noodle soup!

 Cold bean sprout noodles!

Another version of bean sprout rice!

Halal burger and Pizza in Seoul, YES!! in Dongdaemun Exit:5

The prices for the Korean food are the cheapest here in Dongdaemun, same dishes will cost 3 to 4 times higher in Insadong area and portions are small. The photos are taken on the main street outside Dongdaemun Station, where we have malls, outlets, main supply line for almost everything! Get out of exit no:5...and just roam around the place. You wil discover treasures, really!

Weather Update: Still snowing in Bundang

After 20 or so hours of continuous snow, life has come to halt. I know that our teacher will be here no matter how bad the weather gets - hats off!

I went out at 7:00 am in the morning but returned to cover myself with a few more layers.............piles of snow is all over and it was hard to walk! There wasn't any wind though so it wasn't as painful.

Tress are in a shade of black and white and it looks beautiful.

Update:8:45a.m: Sun has come out so let's see.
The sky is really blue and wind is not very strong.
Blanket of snow looks like it's made of silver and when we walk, the crispy sound of snow crushed under the feet is like eating chips.

TOPIK 2013

Yesterday, a lot of friends took TOPIK. It has been reported that more than 1 million people have taken the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) so far.

The Ministry of Education said a total of 18,702 people applied to sit the TOPIK at 18 test sites on Sunday, bringing the accumulated total to 1.02 million.

The TOPIK measures proficiency in grammar, reading, listening and writing of Korean of foreigners whose mother tongue is not Korean. The first annual test took place in four countries in 1997.

Some 2,692 people took the test in 1997, and after a decade the number increased 12 times to 34,028 in 2006.

This year, the TOPIK is sat in 62 countries.

The Ministry believes that the Korean Wave, the expansion of Korean businesses overseas and efforts to promote the language contributed to the jump in the number of TOPIK takers.
