Rain In Korea..

..RAIN not the famous singer!

When it rains, it pours....yes, this is how we have it in Korea. Non-stop rain since yesterday morning and there is no end to it.

I think it is good for spring...it melted snow and almost all the frozen lakes are coming back to their natural forms and shapes and there will be no more walking , no more ice skating and no more reading of messages on these frozen lakes anymore until next year!

When it rains, life doesn't stop at all but one thing is for sure.....with everybody holding their umbrellas (usually matching with the outfits), skillfully balancing themselves on narrow walkways...surely earn my praise! Corridors in the buildings are full of umbrellas and kids in their bright colored rain coats and matching rain boots walk pass you usually munching on 'skewered fish-cakes, Hodduck (호떡/Chinese style small pancakes) and skewered Ttoekbokki(rice cakes in sweet and spicy sauce).

By the way, these rains are also a reminder that spring is just around the corner and we will be witnessing the blossoming of forsythia, azalea, cherry blossom, Japanese apricots, gingko, peach tree, magnolia and the pear tree. Yeay!!!

Change of seasons in Korea is breathtaking....!

When I first moved here, among the top five questions being asked by strangers was: "How many seasons do you have in your country?" and my reply was: five seasons.....it was always mind boggling for them..:-) No wonder, many of their neighbors have just two seasons like Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, The Philippines…

  1. Lovely post! :)

The pictures are breadth taking indeed. And lucky you that spring is around the corner for you guys. Here in Calgary, we are still having snow and extremely low temperatures. Sadly :/ Enjoy the weather.

Thanks for dropping by my blog. You might have notices I am obsessed by Korean culture :)

  2. @ Kaibee: Hey you....thanks for your comments and I must say that your blog is pretty addictive. I've marked it as my favourite for my retirement years - I mean, right after my graduation ;D

My very best wishes for you and don't worry about the spring - its is YOU.
