Since Christmas is around the corner and compared to previous years, Seoul has improved a lot on Christmas/New Year lights and decorations hence, I'd suggest everyone to brave the cold and go see some decorations for the occasion.
To have a real feel one of the places is the Millennium Seoul Hilton hotel. This hotel is a nice place on regular days but during the Christmas time it is amazing! It has the largest Christmas tree in Seoul (may be) which is 3 stories tall and it is covered with beautiful lights. At one corner, a display for a tribute to all the Santas of the world is also created.
The main specialty is the extensive train that runs around the tree and is a center of attention for all kids (big n small).
There is a chair in front of this tree where you can sit and take pictures but actually it is meant for Santa. He will be there on December 24 from 6-8pm and on December 25 from 12-2 pm and 6-8pm. The tree will be up through January 2 and the train will be running through January 16.
If you haven't been there then this is surely a must visit spot in Seoul during Christmas.
How to get there? Well, by subway, get off at Seoul Station and get out from exit 10. Make a left U-turn once out of the exit and start walking up a sidewalk with the Seoul Tower in front of you. Make a left at the intersection at the top of the hill. The Hilton will be on your left. It is about an 8 minute walk from Seoul Station.
By the way, to decorate your Christams Tree, do you know where to buy Christmas decorations?
Costco, Art Box, Emart, Lotte mart, Home Plus and Namdaemun/Dongdaemun Markets. Even Daiso stores have some cute stuff. A Santa costume starts with 40,000 won in Namdaemun. Oh yes, Express Bus Terminal Market (also called: Gangnam Flower Market) located on the 3rd and 4th floor of the Daehae Building must be in your list.
All the best with Christmas related sightseeing, shopping etc.
